About the Item

This 1920s ethereal antique tea dress is printed with florals in colours of the rainbow; peachy pink sits with red, lilac-blue, yellow and lime green, all against a gorgeous powder blue background. Falling to around ankle length, the straight-silhouette and sheer finish of the georgette cloth is typical of gowns of this era and this piece would have classically been worn with a slip underneath. There is smocking at the shoulders and at the front neckline which adds pretty detail. Delicate, frilly layers fall from the skirt, matching the ruffle detail at the sleeves and along the ankle-length hem. This rare survivor is in excellent antique condition for a gown closing in on a century old. We noted a few, very small pin head holes in a couple of places that cannot be seen when worn. It is a good size too and will fit a variety of sizes up to a UK 12 or US 8. Although the dress slips on over the head, there are some side poppers to aid access. MEASUREMENTS: BUST - 39 in. This enchanting 1920s silk chiffon floral print dress is delightfully feminine and in absolutely beautiful condition for a piece of this era. The dress has a scoop neck at both front and reverse , and features cape style sleeves with scalloped edge which float pretty over the upper arms. The peach toned silk chiffon overlay is printed with a floral design in soft blues, reds and ochre. It is fashioned with a dropped waistline atop of a full skirt falling to the ankles in soft folds with an ethereal, bohemian aesthetic. A slip in pale blue silk is sewn into the dress and shows through to complement the delicate shades of the print. Both the slip and the overlay have a run of subtle popper fastenings to the left.
