About the Item

Beautiful antique cream silk christening gown, and a white cotton christening gown. The lovely antique fine cream silk gown has broderie anglaise embroidery to the collar and hem, and smocking detail, the sleeves are finished with lace. The back closes with two hooks, and a mother of pearl button. Measuring chest 29.5 cm / 11.6 inches, and length shoulder to hem 52 cm / 20.4 inches. The gown is in very good condition for its age. There are some brown stain marks. The long antique white cotton gown has embroidery to the front and sleeves, and the neck is finished with lace. The hem is pleated. The back closes with a tie, as does the neck. Measuring chest 22.5 cm / 8.8 inches, and length shoulder to hem 84.5 cm / 33.2 inches. The gown is in fair condition. The end of one sleeve has separated, and there are holes to the front embroidery. There are very few brown stain marks. This is a beautiful pair of antique christening gowns.
