About the Item
From Youthquake pioneer to pattern designer to punk icon, Betsey Johnson has worn as many hats as she has had labels. Despite their name, Johnson’s “punk label” dresses were as feminine—if not more so—than her numerous other labels, but still had her signature flair for the dramatic. Modest and swirling, this example with its 14 ½” foot, bias-cut midi skirt and body-skimming silhouette demonstrates she can design with restraint as skillfully as she can with excess. Reads gray, but actually a black and white micro-stripe.
Long-sleeved midi dress with mock turtleneck and dropped shoulders; dropped “U-line” waist seam. Princess seams down front and back of bias cut skirt. Pull-on construction with no closures of any kind; unlined. *Shoulder pads have been removed from dress but will be included with purchase.
