About the Item

An ingenious design made to accommodate both nursing mothers and independent women without ladies’ maids to dress them, this gossamer tea dress features a semi-detachable bodice that unfastens halfway around the waist and up the left side. Its Lilliputian size belies an abundance of precious Edwardian details such as minuscule carved buttons, delicate tatted lace and deep horizontal pleats. Long sleeve shirtwaist dress with organdy capelet collar and 4 ½” turn-back cuffs trimmed in tatted lace; full, gathered waist skirt with triple tiered horizontal pleats at knee and hem. Hidden snap bodice closure from throat to waist covered by carved ornamental buttons; detached waist seam from center front to left hip, plus 9 ½” open seam at left hip with two hook and eye closures at left waist.
