Unusual Galanos Silk Crepe Pleated Dress
About the Item
Elegant Galanos Silk Crepe 2 piece pleated dress. Unusual design from Galanos. The printed black/red silk crepe is pleated from the waist and neckline and edged in black satin ribbon. James Galanos's garments are beautifully constructed inside and out and this dress has great movement when worn.
The top has a band of black satin around neck from which the pleats fall. The cutting is deceptive as the pleats are not just gathered as in the waist of the skirt.
Pleats are positioned over each shoulder line to fall correctly while the rest of pleats fall downward. The "top" is basically the same as the skirt, with no sleeves, there is an area under each arm where the silk is tacked together to create a "sleeve" of sorts. Back button closures.
The skirt has a band of self fabric at the waist from which the pleats fall. The waist has been altered (larger) so it can be made smaller again with no change to the design if desired. 1980's USA.
Waist measure 32". Length 20" silk satin ribbon trim.
