About the Item

This incredible 1930s black silk crepe evening dress with soft net bodice is in fantastic vintage condition with some beautiful design features. The dress has a plunging scoop neckline and sheer net fabric on the shoulders and upper back. The soft line of the dress flows from the bust into a floor length skirt with diagonal darts at the waistline and decorative tasseled sashes that can be drawn in and tied as desired at the reverse. The short sleeves are gathered at the top to create a feminine taper towards the elbow and are sheer net to match the upper bodice. Pretty piped silken appliqué runs in a broad central panel the length of the front of the dress in a floral design which is echoed on the shoulders, sleeves and reverse of the neckline. There is a slit at the centre front of the skirt from the knee to the hem for ease of movement, and a central zip fastening at the reverse from the mid back to the hip. Fully lined in luxurious silk satin from the waist downwards, this dress exudes quality although unlabeled and could be worn to a variety of occasions. Approximate fit for a US size 6, UK size 10 with a generous hip measurement.
