About the Item

The intricate hand woven detail of this 1950's midnight blue dress by Ann Fleischer is simply beautiful. The classic 1950's party dress silhouette provides for a feminine sweetheart style neckline with deep 'v' in the back, cinched elasticized waist and full skirt all formed with netting. The scalloped hemmed netting is then fully embellished with a spider web style overlay decorated with silk organza ribbons forming florets and horizontal banding. The overall effect is a testament to the beauty of unique handwork that Ms. Fleischer perfected in her coveted designs that usually retailed at high end prices from department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. The dress zips at the side with an internal hooked waistband and is finished with a coordinating woven belt. It probably once had a slip style under-dress in a coordinating color which has been lost over the years. Consider pairing it with a fleshtone slip or wear it with a bodysuit or tap pants for a more revealing look. Excellent vintage condition and sold through Saks Fifth Avenue. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The size is unmarked though the dress best fits a size 4 - 6 with attention to the following measurements. Bust 37.5" Waist (Unstretched) 26" Full Hips 40.5" Approximate Shoulder Length Taken Across Back 16" Length From Shoulder to Hem 46" Length From Shoulder to Waist 16" The woven ribbon belt measures 55" from end to end x .5" wide.
