About the Item

Transport yourself to the era when hostess wear ruled and caftans were all the rage! The Georgie Keyloun label specialized in glamorous attire for entertaining at home and this Raj inspired brocade tapestry caftan combines elements of exoticism and casual comfort. There is an antique quality to the design with the fabric depicting a tiger hunt including images of elephants, horses and majestically dressed swordsmen. The shoulders, bordered hem and flounced sleeves also depict trompe l'oeil imagery of tassels and swags adding to the ornate and majestic look. Golden fringe accents the sleeves, bodice and hem which coordinates with the jewel tone colors of the brocade including shades of red, green, blue, purple and yellow. The robe has a pullover or 'step-in' construction with a zipper at the front. It is partially lined including the shoulder, sleeves and bodice and the fabric is fairly heavy in weight and appears to be a cotton weave with silk threading for decoration. Good vintage condition though there are some issues to mention. There is a repair on the left sleeve as shown in photograph 12 which is lost in the folds of the sleeve. There are two faded discolorations to the left of the zipper approximately waist length down as shown in photograph 13. The fringe shows age with some 'frizz' to the texture. Overall, the condition issues are lost in the ornate print of the fabric and speak to the vintage nature of the garment. It has been professionally cleaned and is ready for wear. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS Marked 'M' for Medium ... fits true to size and might also work for smaller sizes. The unstructured nature of the silhouette lends itself to a deconstructed fit with the shoulder measurement being the truest indicator of a comfortable fit. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4. The following measurements are provided as a guideline.
