I love the simplicity of form of this early 1980s Charles Jourdan black cocktail dress. It has a wide boatneck and fantastic cold shoulder sleeve so that the top of the arm is exposed. The sleeve itself is batwing and very tapered, finishing in a neat, buttoned cuff. The pattern on the fabric reminds me of the lines created by waves hitting a sandy beach. This early 1950s Ceil Chapman taffeta and silk dress is a timeless and elegant party dress. It has a fitted ruched bodice, cut from soft black silk jersey, which hugs the body beautifully to create a feminine shape.
