About the Item

The Roaring Twenties was a period of seismic change in women’s fashion. French designers like Coco Chanel, Jean Patou and Jeanne Lanvin introduced revolutionary silhouettes that broke from the corseted ones of the past. The flapper coat was among these styles, and this one made in France during that time is an exquisite reminder of the beauty that was part of the historical shift. The jacket is tailored from gorgeous ivory wool, with a plain weave that takes on unbelievably rich texture when combined with thin and thick strands—including shiny silk ones that form stripes down its length. Along the cuffs and hem, the weave blooms into stylized Art Deco flowers in lovely shades of red, orange, pink, coral, light blue, green, brown and black. Skipped stitches at their centers make for a finely handcrafted peekaboo detail. Trimmed in faux sheepskin fur, this coat is meant to look cozy, with a wrap front that closes with a button most likely made of Bakelite. Wear it with similar pieces to channel the era or mix and match it with modern ones for a truly one-of-a-kind ensemble. Size estimate: XS/S Measurements: Shoulders: 15.5 inches Sleeves: 21 inches Bust: Up to 40 inches Waist: 28 inches (Please note the button can easily be moved over within up to 8 inches to make the coat larger by the waist and hips.) Hips: 37 inches Length: 40 inches This antique flapper coat is from the 1920s. It is in excellent condition. It bears a label reading “Made in France.” It is tailored from ivory wool, which is woven with strands of silk to form stripes down its front and strands of colored yarns to form stylized Art Deco flowers at the cuffs and bottom. The flowers appear in shades of red, orange, pink, coral, light blue, green, brown and black. The collar, flared sleeves and knee-length hem are trimmed in faux sheepskin fur. The unlined coat wraps at the front and closes with an ivory button, most likely made of Bakelite. It has been professionally dry-cleaned and pressed. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.

Pauline Trigère Abstract Floral Print Cotton Kimono Angel-Sleeve Dress, 1960s
Located in Boca Raton, FL
Pauline Trigère was a prominent figure in putting American designers on the map. Like many of the acclaimed French couturiers, she was an expert at tailoring and had an eye for interesting volumes. However true-to-form of the American aesthetic, Trigère designs are known for their relative simplicity and elegance through ease. From the late 1960s, this magnificent dress is a fine example of why Trigère’s designs were so beloved in Hollywood during that period. Done in a woven cotton featuring an abstract floral print in white, chartreuse, pink, lavender, and ochre on a navy ground, this dress is a wearable work of art. The bodice begins with a high round collar and has incredible sheer kimono...
