About the Item

Hand-made in Tunisia from an Indian silk sari, this kaftan was originally owned by the wife of a State Department ensign in the Nixon administration. Still not impressed? She wore it to tea with Prince Karim Aga Khan IV. That should do it. Tunisian-made hooded kaftan with ¾ bell sleeves; fully front buttoning with 99 gold hand-knotted looped buttons. 1960s Elegant Moroccan caftan emerald green and gold lame metallic brocade, This is an exceptional example of Moroccan fashion, Handcrafted in Morocco and tailored for a relaxed fit with wide sleeves, it is made in the traditional form of a Vintage Moroccan kaftan using metallic brocade fabric. It is trimmed in handcrafted “passementerie”. The neckline does up with ball shaped buttons and loops. The body of the garment is loose fitting and flares to the bottom. The sleeves are somewhat bell shaped with an open cuff that does up with metallic gold buttons. The fabric is a rich looking metallic thread blend brocade.
