About the Item

Unique cocktail dress by J. Mendel intricately constructed of charcoal wool and black faille and featuring a silver fox border which peeks out of the flounced hem. While the main body of the fitted dress is crafted of black faille, the front has large swaths of abstract-shaped charcoal wool appliqué overlaying it. Mid thigh, a pleated band of the wool separated the body from the inverted pleat flounce, which echoes the combination of the the faille with wool appliqués; the band and flounce are continuous around the dress, while the back of the dress is composed of the black faille by itself. Under the exterior flounce is a matching one of plain faille, under which is the silve fox hem. In front, the semi-strapless neckline is enhanced with a charcoal ruffle. The semi-couture details are evident on the interior with its built-in bustier with separate zipper, obviating the need for a bra. A luxurious and interesting find. Unworn with original tag. Original price $4,200. Marked size 10: B: 35"; W: 29"; H: 35" (probably more like a size 6-8.
