Lee Claire Pink Lace Cocktail Dress, 1950's

About the Item

A lovely 1950's cocktail dress from Lee Claire New York in a mauve pink lace with a unique modified bustle style silhouette. The dress zips and hooks at the back with a button at the neckline and snaps at the cuffs. The modified bustle is constructed with pleated lace and hidden netting which folds at the hips and drops at the gathered bow back creating the impression of a train. It is partially lined in a coordinating acetate with sheer shoulders and sleeves. The ultra feminine style is reminiscent of Hollywood starlets of the era and the look would be a wonderful alternative for traditional wedding attire. CONDITION Very good condition with some flaws worth noting. There is a brownish spot at the fold of lace on one hip and another spot on the side panel of the bodice, please see photographs 12 and 13. They are difficult to notice both due to location and the texture of the lace fabric. The neckline shows a slightly duller mauve pink color which may have been discoloration from wear or years of storage. The dress has been professionally cleaned and is ready for wear. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The size is not marked though the dress best fits a modern day size 4 with attention to the following measurements. Please note, there are no straps on the bodice lining and the dress may require special undergarments both for support and to fill out the 'cone' style bust line which was popular in the 1950's. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4.
