About the Item

Circa 1910 France Beautiful neo-classical day dress in the style of the Parisian couturiers of the period. High-waisted dress with boat neckline and short sleeves in mechanically embroidered cotton tulle (which was avant-garde for the period). False button front with bell buttons in sky-blue silk taffeta, echoed on a gathered waistband and piping with a long side placket (fused silk on the placket) and asymmetrical cockade on the back. Cotton bobbin lace inserts on the shoulders and bottom of the skirt. Stapled back and dress fully lined in cream taffeta and chiffon (minor damage to taffeta). Double underskirt of cream taffeta and pale pink muslin giving an interesting sheer effect. No label, but very fine Parisian tailoring. No major damage. Handle with care! Good structural condition but not wearable, only to display. Dimensions: French size 36 equivalent. Shoulders 36 cm, chest 88 cm, waist 68 cm, hips 95 cm, sleeves 25 cm, height 138 cm.
