About the Item

A rare larger size for a Jazz Age garment, this incredible dress offers the comfort of a shift with the elegance of formalwear thanks to its lustrous glass beads. We love how the flowers are left unbeaded for extra depth and texture. Areas where beads were missing have been painstakingly re-beaded by hand with age-appropriate exact replicas of originals. Midi-length sleeveless shift with wide scooped neckline and coordinating 1 ¾” silk band around neck opening; piped in gold brocade at neck and arm holes. Overhead construction with no closures of any kind; unlined. fabric: cotton, silk brocade, silk georgette noteworthy: dry clean only alterations: replaced silk georgette band at neckline with period-appropriate silk condition: very good with gentle fraying to brocade piping measurements: neckline opening: 10 ¼” across shoulders: 17” from outer shoulder edge to edge bust: 40” waist: 38 ½” hips: 44” length: 44 ½” from shoulder; 39” from underarm sweep: 45” hem: 4 ¾” label: no label present size: no size tag present; comparable to modern size medium
