Versace S/S 1999 Runway Finale Orchid Gown Size 38 NWT
About the Item
In her fourth collection on her own, S/S 1999, Donatella began to hit her stride as the head designer for the Versace label. The New York Times wrote that it was “…the best collection she's done on her own since the death of her brother Gianni.” Kate Moss, who dyed her hair bright pink for the occasion, closed the runway show in an identical finale gown.
Sensuous and figure-hugging, this exquisite and rare beaded gown has an almost animalistic motif on a semi-opaque power stretch net, layered over a built-in nude bodysuit. At the halter neck the Oroton chainmail collar is embellished with French knots and mohair, giving the gown an orchidaceous etherealism in the spirit of the very best of archival Versace.
