About the Item

Regal 1960's white silk dupioni evening dress with ornately beaded bodice and coordinating cropped jacket trimmed at the cuffs in mink fur. The sleeveless dress zips and hooks at the scooped neck back with a modified empire waist bodice embellished with silver and white beading, pearls, rhinestones and crystal beaded drops which provide movement. The coordinating cropped jacket has 3/4 sleeves with similar ornate beaded trim and white mink cuffs. Both pieces are lined in silk and the dress has a sculptural box kick pleat at the hem that accents the dramatic silhouette. Made in Hong Kong under the British Crown Colony label. CONDITION Good vintage condition with some discolorations worth noting. There are a couple of amber colored stains shown in photographs 17, 18, 19 and 20. Photo 17 shows a stain on the front bodice under the beading. Photo 18 shows a stain at the front just below the waist. Photos 19 and 20 show stains at the back of the dress near the side seam just below hip level and at the beginning of the box pleat. These discolorations are somewhat camouflaged by the sheen of the fabric. The white mink cuffs are lightly yellowed in tone due to age. The dress has been professionally cleaned and the jacket was not cleaned due to the fur cuffs though it was professionally freshened. Overall, the dress and jacket create a beautiful appearance. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS Marked a U.S. size 10 and best fits modern day sizes 6 - 8 with attention to the following measurements. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4 and both pieces were too large.
