About the Item
Purchased in a Guatemalan market in 1971, this magnificent jacket is an artisanal example of folk costume down to its pockets lined in vintage flour sack. Striking and symmetrical, it is the focal point of any ensemble.
Cropped Guatemalan jacket of heavyweight wool with black cotton notched lapel and dropped shoulders; black cotton and cord soutache trim at right breast pocket and two waist pockets, down arms and around all edges. Soutache bat motif across back shoulders surrounded by stylized soutache border; pockets lined in printed flour sack. No closures; unlined.
