Levi's 506XX buckle-back jacket has silver buckle in back and single flap-front pocket. Buckle does not have embossing and is marked Solide, with two long prongs. Has a few scattered paint spots, most notably on sleeve - this jacket was worked in by a rancher (see provenance below). Still retains deep indigo color but has some nice fade in areas. Tag is missing, please see measurements for sizing.
Born in 1894, the owner of this Levi's jacket moved from Iowa to eastern Montana as a small child with his family. As a young man, he homesteaded and settled in Miles City, a town that looks much today as it did in the early 20th C. He was a cattle rancher and owner of the Bison Bar, still extant on Main Street. A member of the Sage Riders, the Last Man's Club of the American Legion, and the Range Riders, he was a true pioneer cowboy. Most importantly, he was deeply loved and respected by both his family and community. Always smartly turned-out, he never ventured out-of-doors without his hat.
