About the Item

Circa 1750 France Caraco or supple body in brown brocaded French faille, Louis XV period. Unstuffed caraco à la négligé, small basques with pet-en-l'air, three-quarter bent sleeves trimmed with a salmon silk ribbon. Unbleached linen lining (slight yellowing). Faille silk (made in Lyon or Tours) with large bunches of flowers and tasselled trimmings, cut in the same order as the seams. Designed to be worn over a rigid body or with a stomach piece. Very slight depigmentation of the brown faille, but the item is unmodified and silk without damage. Very good condition of colour and conservation. Dimensions: Equivalent to a 14 years old size today. height 55 cm, shoulders 35 cm, sleeves 41 cm, chest 84 cm, waist 71 cm.
