Tom Ford took over as the creative director for Yves Saint Laurent from 1999 to 2004. Ford, like Saint Laurent, is noted for a hyper-progressive vision that tends to bring multiple layers to his design work. For Ford, this frequently manifests as an underlying or overt layer of sensuality. The 2004 Fall/Winter collection was Ford’s last for YSL, and featured a gorgeous array of Oriental inspired designs in jewel tones with fur accents.
