About the Item
A member of the Royal Society of Arts, fiber artist Kay Cosserat was one of the most prominent and decorated knitwear designers of the 20th century. Her untimely death left few pieces in circulation, and most are currently housed in the Victoria & Albert Museum's permanent collection. This ensemble is a beautiful example of her muted, comfortable aesthetic and represents sweater dressing at its artistic best.

Brown Regency Silk Crêpe Kimono Gown with Crystal Batwing Sleeves - Med, 1930s
Located in Tucson, AZ
Dignified and statuesque, this gown combines the modesty and rigor of a kimono with the body conscious glamour of the 1930s. The high cut asymmetrical bodice and inset obi waist detail keep it demure, but the fluttering batwing sleeves—dripping with tambour beading and Austrian crystals—are the real show-stoppers.
