About the Item

Anthony Muto was known for designing reasonably priced evening wear with special attention to comfort and effortless style. This two piece 1970's ensemble for his label, Marita, has the casual and yet romantic look of Japanese pajamas with a definitive nod to a kimono silhouette. The top snaps closed at the crossover front with relaxed kimono style sleeves and the high waist wide legged pants zip and hook at the back. The pieces are finished off by a long wide sash in a coordinating fabric which appears to be a silk charmeuse though it may be synthetic or a blend. The fabric print depicts weeping willow style trees and flowers in shades of salmon pink. Both pieces are beautifully made and fully lined. Very good vintage condition with one spot hidden at the back of the right sleeve at the cuff and shown in photograph 7. The spot could be hidden by hemming the cuff though it would probably go unnoticed otherwise. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS Marked size 10 and best fits a modern size 6 - 8 with attention to the following measurements. Please note that the top is rather unstructured and 'blousy' and might fit a variety of sizes though the pants are more structured at the waist and hips. TOP Bust 36" Waist 35" Hips 41.5" Sleeve Length From Underarm to Cuff 9" Shoulder Length Taken at Back From Sleeve Seam to Seam 16.75" Length From Shoulder to Hem 27" Length From Shoulder to Waist 16" PANTS Waist 27.5" Hips 41" Thigh Circumference 26" Stride 13" Inseam 31" Length From Waist to Hem 42.75" The sash measures 93" from end to end x 7.5" wide.
