About the Item

Black and white striped wool cardigan style sweater by Japanese designer, Kansai Yamamoto, who was known for his wild maximalist designs and his iconic Ziggy Stardust costumes for David Bowie. This sweater has a unique cardigan design with a zigzag row of silver logo embossed buttons and a v-shaped hemline. The abstract embroidered decoration cleverly hides a 'Kansai O2' logo in the design and incorporates shades of silver, peacock blue, black and golden yellow with silver ball beads. The back side also sports a row of buttons and the fun faux appearance of double layers. 1980's maximalism at its best! CONDITION Overall the sweater is in good vintage condition though there are signs of age and wear including some light pilling and a pull at the front panel shown in photograph 12. There are two places in the embroidered decoration that show loose threads and wear as seen in photographs 10 and 11. There is a subtle discoloration near a button at the front opening which can be seen in photograph 8 and another under the front flap which cannot be seen when wearing. Professionally cleaned and ready to wear. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS Marked a size 'M' for Medium and fits true to size. The silhouette is intended to be oversized and the following measurements are provided as a guideline. For visual reference, the mannequin in the photographs is a size 4.
