Keith Haring - Impressions - Figuratif

Keith Haring a commencé à expérimenter avec ses lignes audacieuses et graphiques et ses personnages inspirés des dessins animés sur les murs des stations de métro de la ville de New York au début des années 1980. Il les appelait son "laboratoire", des lieux pour développer une nouvelle esthétique radicale basée sur une idéologie de création d'un art public véritablement démocratique.
Les peintures , les gravures et les peintures murales de Haring abordent les thèmes universels de la mort, de l'amour et du sexe, ainsi que des problèmes contemporains qu'il a vécus personnellement, comme les épidémies de crack-cocaïne et de sida. Elles tirent une grande partie de leur impact du puissant contraste entre ces sujets sérieux et le langage pictural joyeux et vibrant qu'il utilise pour les exprimer, plein de figures dansantes, de bébés, de chiens qui aboient, de cœurs et de lignes rythmiques, ainsi que de références à la culture pop.
Pour rendre son art encore plus accessible, en 1986, Haring a ouvert le Pop Shop à Soho. Préfigurant le mélange actuel de l'art et de la mode, le magasin vendait des marchandises et des articles de fantaisie comportant des images de Michele et de contemporains tels que Kenny Scharf et Jean-Michel Basquiat. Si ses œuvres comportent parfois du texte, il choisit la plupart du temps de communiquer par le dessin.
"Le dessin est toujours fondamentalement le même depuis la préhistoire", a déclaré Haring. "Il vit grâce à la magie.

Rare, très recherché, faire-part / affiche pliante surdimensionnée de 1986 illustrée par Keith Haring & Andy Warhol (verso). Cette œuvre rarement disponible a été illustrée par Haring et Warhol à l'occasion de : Martin Fund - une collecte de fonds contre le sida organisée le 4 septembre 1986 au Pyramid Club (East Village) en faveur de Martin Burgoyne, un ami proche de Haring. L'œuvre présente au verso deux illustrations offset de Burgoyne réalisées par Warhol (voir la littérature et les références ci-dessous). Une collaboration unique et très historique entre Keith Haring et Andy Warhol à ne pas laisser passer.
Medium & Dimensions : lithographie offset sur carton pliant/affiche sur papier blanc épais. 8.5 x 11 pouces (plié ouvert).
Très bon état général ; contient une ligne de pliage centrale comme à l'origine.
Non signé d'une édition inconnue ; peu d'exemplaires ont survécu. Signature imprimée de Warhol au verso.
Provenance : obtenu auprès du designer d'art original en 1986.

Burgoyne, est venue à la fête et a parlé avec lui pendant un long moment".

Attiré par l'effervescence de New York, Martin Burgoyne s'est installé à Manhattan pour étudier l'art au Pratt Institute au début des années 1980. À son arrivée, Steve Rubell, copropriétaire du Studio 54.
Up&Up a rencontré la chanteuse Madonna, avec qui il s'est lié d'amitié, et toutes deux sont devenues colocataires.
Burgoyne a été l'un des premiers danseurs de Madonna et a également conçu la pochette de son single de 1983 "Burning Up".
Madonna et Michele ont entretenu une relation étroite et partagé un cercle d'amis, dont les artistes Andy Warhol, Keith Haring et Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Burgoyne aurait invité Warhol à se rendre au mariage de Madonna en août 1985.
Au cours de l'été 1986, Burgoyne... a été diagnostiqué avec un complexe lié au SIDA (ARC).
En septembre 1986, une soirée de collecte de fonds a été organisée par Deb Parker au Pyramid Club dans l'East Village. L'événement a permis de récolter 6 000 dollars pour les frais médicaux et de subsistance de Burgoyne.
Parmi les invités figuraient Andy Warhol et Keith Haring, qui ont tous deux conçu l'invitation, Kenny Scharf, qui s'est produit lors de l'événement, Anita Sarkos, Steve Rubell et Madonna. Le New York Times a écrit un article sur l'événement, alors que l'épidémie de sida dévastait une génération d'hommes essentiellement gays.
Madonna a pris en charge les frais médicaux de Burgoyne à l'hôpital St. Vincent. Elle lui a également loué un appartement dans la 12e rue ouest de Greenwich Village, afin qu'il soit plus proche de l'hôpital.
Le 10 novembre 1986, Madonna a porté une veste en jean peinte par Burgoyne lors d'un défilé de mode au profit du SIDA et de l'hôpital St. Vincent.
Burgoyne est mort à 23 ans de complications liées au sida, le 30 novembre 1986.
Pyramid Club, East Village, NYC :
Le Pyramid Club a été ouvert vers 1985 par Bobby Bradley et Alan Mace (anciennement Danceteria) dans le cadre d'une réaction plus large de l'East Village contre la culture gay de l'West Village. Bradley et Mace ont engagé Ivan Baker, du Mudd Club, comme DJ principal.
