Antique Hessian Soldier Figural Andirons Cast Iron Sculptures

About the Item

American. c.1900-1920. Pair of Hessian Soldier Andirons. The cast iron is retaining an exceptional polychromed surface. Each Solider as photo'd weighs 12 lb 5 oz. (12.3125 lb / 5.58485 kg) Bolted on some 26.5 inch back legs to the soldiers, pictured. Figural design of soldier in British (red coat) uniform facing left, and holding sword in his left hand. Fashioned after the Hessians (British mercenaries) fighting in the American Revolution. We will include the rear bar sections for these to be used by their next owners.
