"Brownie" Character Andirons, Early 20th Century

The "Brownie" character emerged out of British and Scottish folklore. The elf - like character was said to bring good luck and fortune to ones' home. He was also used in the early twentieth century advertisings, including a Brownie soda. It was only natural that he was incorporated into these andirons, to spread his charm throughout the room. The figures are cast iron, with a black painted surface. Both are in fine, solid condition.
