Rare Antique English Victorian Mahogany & Marble Double Vanity Bathroom Sink 60"
About the Item
An exquisite English Victorian Era bathroom double vanity. Features a gray and white vein marble top with scalloped soap holders and two porcelain sink basins by John Shanks (Britain). The spectacular mahogany base features a central carved medallion with "S" scrolled accents and ornate gadrooning throughout. The corners are acanthus carved and poised over square blocked, carved baluster pillars. The pillars are set on a plinth base with fluted rear support and shapely spandrels.
Shanks of Barrhead was a name known throughout the world. Much of what we take for granted in the bathroom was pioneered by John Shanks.
Purchased and imported from England in the 1980s.
