About the Item

Rare Antique Balinese Carved Teak Door in Original Frame, circa 1900 A rare antique Balinese carved teak door with its complete original frame, dating to the late 19th–early 20th century (circa 1880–1930). Hand-carved by master craftsmen, the door showcases deep relief floral and foliate motifs, a hallmark of Bali’s golden era of architectural wood carving. The use of dense, old-growth teak gives the piece exceptional weight, stability, and the warm patina that only time can produce. Each panel is enriched with intricate, flowing scrollwork—carved entirely by hand—and the pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery displays the artisan’s skill and the traditional building methods of the period. The original teak frame is intact—something seldom found with antique architectural doors—making this piece both a practical installation element and a standalone work of art. In interiors, it can serve as: • A striking architectural installation in a home or boutique space • A wall-mounted sculptural statement in a gallery or collector’s setting • A distinctive backdrop for interior design projects blending ethnic, wabi-sabi, and modern organic styles Sourced directly in Bali, this door represents the scarcity of authentic pre-1930 Balinese architecture in today’s market. Few survive outside the island, and even fewer retain their original framing and depth of carving. Condition: Solid and structurally sound. Natural age-related wear, light surface oxidation, and minor weathering are present and consistent with its history. The original finish has been preserved, and no aggressive restoration has been carried out, allowing the patina to speak for its age and provenance. Dimensions: Height 176cm x Width 101 cm x Depth 12.7cm Provenance: Private architectural salvage, Lombok, Indonesia. Many Balinese craftsman moved from Bali to Lombok. Shipping: We ship worldwide using experienced art and antiques shippers. All pieces are carefully packed or crated, and white-glove delivery is available on request. Multiple purchases can be consolidated for shipping efficiency. Explore our other listings for more rare Indonesian architectural carvings, tribal art, and wabi-sabi design elements.
