About the Item

Magnificent 20th Century Balinese style Asian hand carved & painted sculptural teak door panel with patinated brass ring door pulls. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, No outstanding flaws just its beautiful natural age patina. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Late 19th to 20th Century. You know what they say… when one door closes, another one opens!! But who could ever imagine it would be a door SO EXQUISITE!!!! WE CAN!!! This is an absolutely gorgeous Balinese style sculptural door panel composed of a solid teak frame completely lavished with intricately hand carved vines, symbols, & Asian floral details. Some retain the natural teak finish while other details have been hand painted in wonderful colors of dark green, lighter green, and white. It has a solid structure embellished with texture & bears a lovely, layered appearance. AND, it has a secret… It features functioning double doors in the center of the door!! That’s right, the double doors are recessed in the center presenting patinated brass ring pulls and a fantastic peak defining to the Balinese style. The double doors swing inward rather than back and create an incredible opening for whatever is placed behind it for display. It bears many uses whether leaned against a wall with the double doors open and a mounted mirror on the wall behind it, open the double doors and reveal a small accent table hosting a spectacular sculpture… or, mounted on a wall it would be a gorgeous wall hanging… OR, standing on its own it would be a wonderful room divider but… YES… it can also be used as a functional door for any room. And, with some adaptations it could even be used as a walk-through… its possibilities are as limited as your imagination!! This interesting, almost angelic piece will blend with so many design styles besides its Asian origin from Rustic and Spanish Revival to Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Regency, and many styles in between. It is very versatile, fully functional, absolutely FABULOUS, and it’s ready to grace your home with its alluring and rather ornate presence!!! Are you still contemplating? Don’t wait for the door to hit you in the… well… you know!! Just do it… make it YOURS!!!! Fantastic vintage Spanish Colonial Revival style oak cupboard, hutch, cabinet, or dry bar comprised of hand carved oak, wood pegs & shelves, & brass. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. This piece has lots of wonderful patina. We have added new magnetic latches to doors as they we just not staying shut on their own. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Late 19th Century through 20th Century. We really have a hard time determining age of this piece. It is fabulous no matter and is priced for its beauty and not its age. Enigma definition: A person, object, or thing that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand. This cupboard is just that… definitely puzzling and mysterious!! And I sure wish it could talk because I bet it has some GREAT stories to share!! Something tells me it’s seen a few things and has had quite an interesting history. It is a one-piece cabinet comprised of oak with a top and bottom section and an open center section. The doors have carvings with (what we believe are) dates back to the 1600’s. The door fronts remind me of vintage livery cupboards… they are nostalgic and quite mystifying!! We don’t believe the whole cupboard is quite the same age, hence, more mystery! We believe the body or frame of the cupboard is Early 1900’s, possibly earlier, and was made from reclaimed lumber or someone possibly took pieces of an old cabinet and repurposed it. The top section is constructed with mortise & tenon joints (no nails!), the inner top & base cabinets each enclose a single adjustable wood shelf with aged wood peg brackets, and stepped siderails or shelf supports. Both the top and lower door fronts bear enigmatic brass armoire hinges...
