18th Century French Polished Iron Fireback with Allegoric Scene

About the Item

Decorate a fireplace hearth with this elegant antique fire back, created in France circa 1760, and square in shape, the plaque features a Roman allegoric scene with a male male angel holding a woman in his arms. The plaque is further embellished with floral and leaf motifs on both sides. The heavy iron element is in excellent condition with a rich polished steel finish, and could also be used as a back splash behind a stove in a kitchen. Weight 51 pounds. Measures: 21.5" W x 21.5" H.
