About the Item
Large 18th century French Louis XV fireback with pillars and Fleurs de Lys. The Fleur de Lys (French Lily) symbolized royalty and aristocracy throughout Europe. The pillars stand for the club of Hercules and symbolize strength and the unknown. The date of production, 1715, is also cast in the fireback.
The fireback has a black / pewter patina. The fireback is in a good condition and does not have cracks.
