About the Item

A rare and magnificent antique maiolica tiled heating stove from the late 19th century, monumental size, French Art Nouveau styling, Italian Alps origin, multi-fuel, finished in an attractive mauve finish with steel vents and door. Handmade, signed Fratelli Pozzoli, Italy, Erba-Incino, approx 25 miles from Milan, in the Provenance of Como, the Brianza region at the foot of the Alps. Also known as a cocklestove, home heating oven, Victorian era wood burning fireplace, faience Kachelofen porcelain tiled chimney pot, etc.. Dimensions: Approx 52" H, 22.5" W, 20" D Very heavy Condition: Good antique condition. Original, unrestored, antique condition. Imperfections. We believe the stove is operable, but because this is not our specialty, and for safety/health reasons, we're selling it as a decorative piece only. We highly recommend having a heating/cooling professional (or someone that specializes in antique stoves) thoroughly inspect the piece prior to use to ensure it meets all safety standards, no leaks/properly sealed, etc. It's in good antique condition with heavy wear but typical wear and tear consistent with age and use, including some loss, chips, cracks, etc. As with all ceramic, it is delicate. It presents splendidly, with wonderful warm, rustic, elegantly aged patina over the whole.
