French 19th century Belle Epoque period Giltwood and marble pedestal

About the Item

A most decorative and high quality French 19th century Belle Epoque period Louis XVI st. Giltwood and Breccia Violette marble pedestal. This unique pedestal is raised by four 'C' scrolled cabriole legs decorated with foliate designs and supported on ball feet. Atop each leg are hanging berried laurel vines emerging from rectangular mottled panels. The apron on all sides displays a straight mottled edge with swaging berried laurel garlands below. Above each top cap are beautifully carved circular finials of acanthus leaves wrapping around a collection of berries. The four circular ornaments flank the Breccia Violette display shelf which is fitted within a reeded and rounded Giltwood band.
