This staircase with a rubber step surface is called the Helicloid staircase and is part of the "M 400" series by Roger Tallon. The piece is executed in cast and polished aluminum and features non-slip rubber on the surface. The piece is made by Lacloche Gallery. This particular model comes with ten steps including the floor step. Another example of this staircase in the collection of the MOMA.

Roger Tallon (1929-2011) was a French Industrial designer. Tallon was trained as an engineer. He designed hundreds of products, including Industrial Robots for Peugeot, refrigerators, tableware, lamps and furniture. Ercol is founden in 1934 by Arnold Reininghaus (1907-2003), Paul Buschhaus and Karl Reeber in Lüdenscheid, Westfalen, Germany.
