Pair of French 19th century garden statues of hand-carved stone lions with shields. Each is crouched on their hind legs with an arm supporting an escucheon or shield upon which is cut a family coat of arms reflecting noble 18th century neoclassical ideals. Each sculpture is hand chiseled out of a single block of stone by a small artisan workshop and weighing over 100 pounds.
