A Pair of Antique French Neoclassical Iron Garden Urns in Black
About the Item
A superb pair of antique French cast iron garden urn planters circa 1880. These elegant campana jardinieres are the quintessential classic French garden urns. While originally used outdoors these can be used indoors as dramatic accessories to traditional or modern rooms. This pair closely follows the form of Greek originals, carved in stone. The base is a simple pedestal and the reservoir of the urn is similarly simple, with only subtle lobed details, which are repeated along the rim. The interior shows much rust, which is expected and the black paint on the exterior is enhanced by rust. The urns are quietly impressive.
