Five Mid-Century storage baskets 'Rohé', Netherlands 1960s
About the Item
These five rattan and steel baskets with a lid are attributed to Dutch designer, Dirk van Sliedregt, and were manufactured by 'Rohé' Noordwolde, Netherlands in the 1960s.
This Rohé basket has a metal structure covered in wicker. The organic material is carefully woven around the steel frame, which is painted black. The combination of metal and organic gives a modern feel to this piece. With functionality at its core, the basket is a decorative piece that can be used in versatile ways.

Rohé Noordwolde has been the main manufacturer for Dutch rattan furniture since the early 20th century. The Rohé rattan manufactory was established in the Frisian town of Noordwolde in 1919 and became one of the largest employers in Friesland. The Dutch brand became big due to the immense popularity of rattan furniture after the Second World War.
