Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso pink Italian art glass ribbed surface decorative bowl / ashtray. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950-1960. Published in his catalog. The bowl has an original "Venetian - Made By Alfredo Barbini for Weil Ceramics & Glass - Murano Italy" label still attached to the inside. The bowl has an oval shape and it is very deep (at 4" tall). It is made with very thick glass. Would make a great display piece on any dresser, console or coffee table. Fill it with flowers, use it as a catchall, or even fruit bowl. Mid-century era. Measures 10 1/2" long x 7" wide x 4" tall.

Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
