Large 19th Century Hand-Carved Chestnut Basin
About the Item
This beautifully weathered wooden basin was hand-carved from a single piece of chestnut around 1850 in the Basque region of France. With its bold, sculptural shape and deep, rich patina, it brings instant rustic character to any space!
You'll love the hand-hewn details, natural texture, tool marks, age-worn edges, and surface variations that speak to its authentic history. Originally used in a rural farmhouse, possibly for dough or washing, the basin still features one original handle with an attached loop of aged rope.
This piece makes a stunning decorative accent. Perfect for displaying fruit, dried flowers, or simply as a standalone conversation piece. It blends effortlessly into farmhouse, rustic, or wabi-sabi-inspired interiors.
