1960s Murano Red and Gold Bullicante Glass Bowl Attributed to Archimede Seguso
About the Item
A small decorative Murano glass bowl attributed to Archimede Seguso, hand-crafted on Murano, Italy, during the 1960s. The piece is formed from rich ruby-red glass incorporating controlled bubbles (bullicante), arranged in precise concentric circles—a technique perfected in Murano glassmaking workshops.
Suspended gold inclusions add depth and sparkle to the vibrant red glass body. The rim has been hand-manipulated while molten, creating a softly ruffled edge trimmed in clear glass. Two delicate curling ribbons of clear glass serve as both functional and ornamental handles.
Measuring 10 cm deep, 11 cm wide, and 4.5 cm high, the bowl remains in excellent condition with a bright, smooth exterior. The combination of bullicante bubbles, gold leaf, and precise hand-forming techniques reflects the high level of artistry characteristic of Seguso’s mid-century production.

Located in Glasgow, GB
A decorative Murano glass dish, attributed to Murano glass maestro Archimede Seguso. Handcrafted in Italy in the 1950s, this elegant dish takes the form of a scallop shell, with its bottom edges pinched inward to create the distinctive shape.
Made from vibrant red Murano glass and seamlessly fused with a sheet of gold leaf—a signature technique in mid-century Murano glass design—this combination results in a rich, organic pattern. During the firing process, the stretching and forming of the molten glass produce a concentric pattern of gold flakes that radiate outward, echoing the delicate textures found in a natural scallop shell.
