Background of Kakiemon Design on Chamberlain's Worcester Porcelain:
During the Regency period in England, Kakiemon designs gained popularity at Chamberlain's Worcester Porcelain, reflecting a broader enthusiasm for Japanese and Chinese porcelain.
Kakiemon porcelain is known for its elegant and often asymmetrical designs, painted in vibrant colors.
Typically, the color palette includes iron red, blue, and yellow, with touches of green, all set against a blue-white porcelain background. Notably, Chamberlains Worcester opted for gilt instead of yellow in their versions.
Kakiemon originated from the Arita kilns in Japan during the 17th century and was named after the renowned potter Sakaida Kakiemon. The style conveyed a sense of exoticism and luxury, which was highly valued in Regency society.
