About the Item

Lovely Chinese Porcelain Famille Rose Charger with nice green, red, blue and pink enamels. We think it could be a pre Bencharong / Pre Nyonya plate/charger. We call this style Pre Bencharong because it has many features of later bencharong / south east asian wares, but it is older. Often these plates are dated to qianlong period 18th c. They are also in several books. The interesting thing is you can already see the thick ennamel used on Bencharong wares and the vibrant colours that are so typical for straits porcelain. This porcelain for the SE Asian market Thailand, Malysia & Indonesia. The exact relation to the ware of the 19th c has to be determined, but it seems accaptable to say these are predecessors from around 1800. So 1780-1820.
