Antique Edo Period 17C Japanese Porcelain Celadon Ghendi Rare Object

About the Item

Celadon kendi on footring, ribbed body and mammiform spout, long cylindrical neck ending in a splayed mouth with overturned rim. No painted decoration, As the large dishes, celadon kendis might also have been made for the south-east Asian markets where this type of drinking ` vessel was popular. Dating this type is difficult, and its production may have been going on for some time, parallel to that of the celadon dishes. Larger examples are also known (Adhyatman 1987). Ca 1660-1700 Similar piece pictured in the literature, see pictures. Condition 2 small frits to underside rim neck. chip and some frits to spout. Size: 15.5CM high Period 17th century Edo Period (1603–1867)

This is a small stone statue believed to have been made in Japan during the mid to late Edo period (18th to 19th century). The figure represents "Jizo Bosatsu" (Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva), one of the revered bodhisattvas in the Buddhist tradition.
