Extraordinary Art Nouveau Silvered Brass Dish, Stockholm, ca. 1900

About the Item

Extraordinary Art Nouveau Silvered Brass Dish, Stockholm, ca. 1900 An exceptional serving or fruit dish in silvered brass, crafted in Stockholm, Sweden, around 1900. This piece is a striking example of extreme Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) design, characterized by its organic curves, flowing hair, and highly detailed relief of a female figure surrounded by water lilies and whiplash lines. The surface is beautifully worked with deep repoussé and piercing, giving the dish both visual lightness and sculptural richness. Originally silver-plated, the dish has acquired a charming patina over time — in a few small areas the silver has worn away, revealing the underlying brass (see images). Overall, the condition is very good, with crisp details and graceful form — a true collector’s piece and a decorative highlight for any Art Nouveau or fin de siècle interior. Wear consistent with age and use.
