About the Item

French ceramic white Vide Poche circa 1960s - in the style of Georges Jouve, Ruelland Large hand-shaped pocket organizer. Mid-century plaster enameled with glossy enamel circa 1960s. In the style of the bear-paw-shaped vide poche by Georges Jouve, this is a very beautiful object, both massive in size and shape and delicate in its silky glaze. It is in very good condition. Please look at the pictures, they complete the description. ------------------- Georges Jouve started at the Boulle school between 1927 and 1930. He studied sculpture and discovered the techniques of the trade. He asserts his personality by following or rejecting the methods taught. It is in this school that the nickname of Apollo will be given to him. Jouve tried his hand at ceramics, first to earn a living. He quickly became passionate about this art. He fetches earth from Dieulefit, enamels it with alquifoux (natural lead sulphide), as the Provençal tradition requires. The colors are limited to green, yellow and eggplant. In 1943, he moved with his family to Dieulefit. Jouve prefers modeling to throwing for the execution of his pieces, thus being able to keep a certain control over their fabrication. He likes pure forms and is concerned with their harmony. He draws his inspiration from nature and lets his imagination and fantasy guide him.
