About the Item

These Deby saucers were made in England around 1820 and feature deep blue borders with vibrant gilding. The gilt was applied by hand using a stencil, resulting in exquisite floral forms that stand out from a deep blue ground. The lavish gilding on a deep cobalt blue ground is a traditional characteristic of many Regency period porcelains. While the depth of the blue may not be fully captured in the images, when you hold the saucers in your hand, you can see hints of a lighter tone as light plays over them. Dimensions: 5.5" diameter x 1.25" height Condition: Excellent Price: $330 Background of Derby Porcelain: Derby porcelain was first produced in the mid-18th century. In 1756, William Duesbury joined Andrew Planche and John Heath to create the Nottingham Road factory, which later became Royal Crown Derby. In the early 19th century, Derby continued to be one of the most prestigious English porcelain manufacturers.
