About the Item

This magnificent enameled copper bowl, attributed to the renowned Italian designer Paolo De Poli, showcases the vibrant artistry characteristic of the mid-century modern era. The bowl features a captivating, hand-hammered texture with an iridescent enamel interior in rich shades of red, pink, and blue, which blend seamlessly into a shimmering silver tone. The exterior is covered in a soft, peach-colored enamel with organic silver and greenish accents, adding a unique, naturalistic contrast. Paolo De Poli (1905-1996) was an Italian artist and designer renowned for his enamel work, particularly on copper. Specialization De Poli specialized in the complex enamel technique, known for his orthodox technique and certainty of touch. Materials He primarily used copper as his preferred material for his enameled creations. Collaborations De Poli had a significant and decades-long collaboration with Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti, starting in the 1940s. Their joint work encompassed enameled furniture, decorative panels, and later expanded to include vases, bowls, and trays. Recognition His work was featured in prominent exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and Milan Triennale, and also in Domus magazine. In 1967, the Museum of Contemporary Craft hosted a solo exhibition of his work.
