About the Item

Extraordinary and rare Murano glass catchall or centerpiece, handcrafted in the early 1960s using the sophisticated battuto technique-one of the most intricate and labor-intensive methods in Murano glassmaking. This piece is crafted from deep azure blue glass, ground to a thickness of 5 cm, and meticulously finished with a hand-hammered texture along the edge. The battuto process involves striking hot glass with a hammer to imprint a tactile, shimmering surface-a mark of masterful craftsmanship and control. The substantial thickness of the glass allows for exceptional depth and refraction, producing mesmerizing light effects and reflections. In perfect vintage condition, free from chips or cracks. Only minimal wear is present underneath, consistent with age and gentle use. Dimensions Diameter: 20 cm (7.9 in) Height: 4.2 cm (1.65 in) Glass thickness: 5 cm (1.97 in) Please note This item is in outstanding vintage condition with no chips or damage. Slight signs of wear on the underside, appropriate for its age. Its luminous depth and textured edge make it an exceptional piece of Murano artistry. Rare Italian Mid Century Bed Frame by Luigi Saccardo for Gasparello, 1970s
By Gasparello Arredamento Contemporaneo, Luigi Saccardo
Located in Conversano, IT
Elegant bed, model "Seven," in burled maple veneer, designed by Luigi Saccardo for Gasparello in the late 1970s. This piece is a refined example of Italian vintage design, combining clean lines, luxurious finishes, and a distinct architectural presence. The structure is crafted in brown-stained burled maple veneer, finished with a high-gloss lacquer that enhances the natural wood grain, lending a sophisticated and elegant look. The headboard features an extended lateral profile with integrated floating nightstands, each with black hidden drawers and functional surfaces, creating a balanced and cohesive design. Soft rounded corners and edges soften the otherwise geometric form, while the bed frame is bold yet well-proportioned, outlining the mattress area with elegance and strength. This piece accommodates a standard European mattress (160 × 190 cm). Perfect for interiors with a retro, modernist, or contemporary aesthetic, thanks to its timeless design language and premium craftsmanship. Extremely rare and currently one-of-a-kind on the market. Please note: This item is in a very good vintage condition. Minor signs of age may be present but do not affect its functionality. We kindly ask you to consider these characteristics prior to purchase. Published in Domus, June 1980, p. 43.
