About the Item

Set of three hand carved Italian alabaster claw and dolphin footed decorative boxes in blue, orange and beige coloured alabaster. I fell in love with their beautiful shiny colours and the heaviness of the material of these jewellery boxes with hinged lids, brass claw feet, brass dolphin feet and brass trim. This very elegant Mid Century Modern bulbous boudoir design lidded set of bowls would make a compliment to any vanity or dressing table. Perfect for holding all kinds of little trinkets, make up accessoires or cotton balls. The sticker underneath the blue one reads "Alabastra Genuine, Lavorato a mano in Italia" which obviously means "genuine alabaster, hand carved in Italy". Sizes: The blue one is 18,5cm high and Ø 9cm The orange one is 10cm high, and Ø 12cm The beige one is 4,5cm high, and Ø 7cm.

1960s Italian Three Piece Orange Genuine Hand Carved Alabaster Smoking Set
Located in Haarlem, NL
Very decorative 1960s Italian hand carved orange alabaster smoking set by Romano Bianchi. Consists of a heavy ashtray, also very useful as trinket dish or vide-poche. A table lighter (which also fits a wax tea light candle). And a very pretty lidded hinged box, which originally would have held cigarettes but also could be used to keep jewellery or little treasures in. Cigarette sales peaked in the 20th century, people were allowed to smoke in the office, the cinema, at restaurants, indoors and outdoors. Once women were able to smoke freely, smoking became a social norm and in general it was considered an act of elegance and sophistication. Businessmen in the 1960s were rarely seen without a cigarette in their hand. So needles to say you needed pretty smoking accessories...

Early 1900s French Neoclassical Oval Brass Jewellery Box with Agate Moth Decor
Located in Haarlem, NL
Very pretty and heavy early 1900s Neo-Classical oval brass jewellery box with 2 moth decorations carved in agate. The figures on the (I think machine made repoussé) side look like from Roman times. The middle-eastern little tent shaped lid feels very Moorish, also the round glass 'gem stone' decorations look like the decoration on antique Moorish jewellery...
